What happens before support starts?
Four practical steps from a first enquiry to a written agreement and start date.
Send the basics
Give your name, contact method, suburb, the tasks you need help with and your preferred times. You can enquire for yourself or involve someone you trust.
Start with the location detailsAsk who is available
Discuss the proposed worker, relevant experience, communication, access, safety and whether an introduction can be arranged.
Use the worker question listCheck the written agreement
Read the tasks, schedule, prices, travel, cancellation terms, responsibilities and how changes work. Ask for wording or a format you understand.
Check the whole costConfirm the first visit
Agree the worker, date, time, tasks and contact arrangements. Keep a copy of the service agreement and review it when support or your NDIS plan changes.
Changing from another provider?
Check your current notice period and any fees. The NDIS recommends finding a new provider before finishing the old arrangement so there is no gap in support.

The NDIS recommends meeting a provider and agreeing the supports, costs, payment method and how the agreement can change.

Give the team your suburb, tasks and preferred times. No plan document is needed for the first enquiry.
